Chuck Toney
Chuck Toney has served as an assistant to the president since July 2011. A speechwriter and policy analyst in the Public Affairs office since 1999, he continues those duties in the president’s office. He also has responsibility for construction projects, facilities, and physical plant, working with the Office of University Architects for Facilities Planning, the UGA Real Estate Foundation, and the Board of Regents staff. He is also the liaison for the President’s Cabinet and the Public Affairs office, and represents the office with such higher education groups as the Southern Regional Education Board, the Atlanta Regional Council for Higher Education, and the American Association of Universities.
Before coming to UGA, Toney was a public information director in the Public Affairs Office at Clemson University. In 1993-94, he served as press secretary for Congressman Don Johnson, who represented Athens and Northeast Georgia.
