Intentionally shape the next phase of your career with strategies and feedback from successful higher education leaders.
Event Information
This program is intentionally designed to help you reflect on your strengths through completion of the Five Paths to Leadership℠ Self-Assessment and a 360-degree review with feedback from your network, so that you can discover your authentic leadership style. You will identify the skill sets needed to navigate the current and future higher education landscape, so that you can write a compelling career narrative that captures your strengths, goals, and values. You’ll incorporate these insights into your external-facing communications—such as your CV, résumé, and LinkedIn profile. Most importantly, you’ll leave with a tangible action plan for how to grow your career and the connections that support your goals—all of which will be informed with feedback from the cohort—a network we hope you’ll leverage and support far into the future. This is a unique opportunity to learn from some of the best leaders in the industry in a supportive environment alongside other women leaders.
Highlights of the program include:
- Tips and Strategies from Our Expert Instructor Panel: Learn new skills that will help you to implement your career growth strategy immediately.
- Leadership Assessment: Through Academic Impressions’ Five Paths to Leadership℠ Self-Assessment, you’ll discover how you leverage your leadership strengths under typical circumstances as well as more stressful ones.
- 360 Assessment Plus One-on-One Feedback: Engage in a 360-degree feedback assessment and get perspective from your colleagues. You will also meet with one of our expert Success Coaches to help you to digest your 360 feedback so that you can identify meaningful ways to incorporate this information into your career growth strategy.
- Community Building and Networking: You will build connections with other attendees, connect with speakers, and work through how you plan to implement the action steps you’ve identified. To preserve an intimate and productive experience, this conference is capped at 30 attendees.

Assessing Your Skill Sets for Career Growth and Surveying the Higher Education Landscape
3:15 – 4:45 p.m.
Your path to developing your leadership career depends primarily on two components: 1) building the necessary skill sets and demonstrating those skills to others, and 2) shaping the right conditions of support and advocacy as you move forward in your career. We will focus on the first component in this module.
You will learn how to:
- Identify the skills higher education needs from its leaders now.
- Build a strategic skill set and develop “horizon” thinking.
- Avoid getting trapped in outdated models of leadership and discover the importance of authenticity as you grow as a leader.
The Five Paths to Leadership℠ 360 Assessment
4:45 – 5:15 p.m.
Each participant will complete a Five Paths to Leadership℠ 360 Assessment before coming to the program, and you’ll receive your results on-site. Networking Reception (included in registration fee)
5:15 – 6:00 p.m.
This informal reception is your chance to decompress, have some refreshments on us, and expand your network of connections. Our programs are intentionally designed for smaller groups, so this is a great time to catch up with attendees and speakers whom you may not have connected with yet.

Aligning Your Career with Your Goals and Values
9:30 – 11:30 a.m.
Now that you’ve identified your strengths, surveyed the landscape, and assessed your skill sets, this workshop provides the time to pause and consider what you want next in your career journey. This session will be a workshop designed to push you to dig deep and discern your next steps. Whether you already have a new position or path in mind or are seeking an answer to “what’s next,” this session will provide you with the space and time to intentionally consider, evaluate, and sort through the cloud of information and emotion—and begin to crystallize your non-negotiables, your core values, and your goals.
You will learn:
- Strategies for evaluating external input about your career.
- A technique for identifying your non-negotiables, career values, and aspirations.
- How to apply a framework for choosing your next steps.
Lunch (included in registration fee)
11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Composing Your Career Narrative
12:30 – 2:00 p.m.
Before you can take the next step in your career, you must reflect on where you’ve been and effectively communicate your career journey to others. Rather than just listing past roles you’ve held, you must also be able to detail your accomplishments and their impact, so that you are seen as a standout candidate for future opportunities.
You will learn how to:
- Quantify the impact of the projects you led in order to demonstrate your expertise in leading large-scale operations.
- Seize new opportunities as they come along, even when they don’t necessarily align with your current skill sets.
- Rewrite your résumé or CV to quantify accomplishments and show how those align with strategic initiatives.
Break
2:00 – 2:15 p.m.

During this session, you’ll hear from each of the speakers about advice that helped them to navigate their own careers.

Those who register by September 2, 2024, and complete their 360 assessments in advance will have the opportunity to review your 360 results with a subject matter expert. You will learn how to:
