Agenda

You will be engaged in three scenarios involving challenges that advisors often address with students:

  • A student registering for a known difficult course in fall of his/her freshman year.
  • A student who had high grades in high school, but has finished his/her first semester with a low GPA.
  • A student who earned a low grade in a foundational course.

With each scenario, you will walk through the following four actions:

  1. Inquire: What are key questions you should be asking? What data will provide those answers?
  2. Dig: How can you further extrapolate the data to show trends?
  3. Identify: Which students should be your top priorities for interventions?
  4. Act: What should be your first action steps and who should take those?
