Create more inclusive and equitable environments to support the success of Asian leaders.
Series Overview
Asian students, faculty, and staff continue to be underrepresented in higher education, and as we look at leadership positions, this gap widens further, with only 1% of college presidents identifying as Asian. While individual support and leadership advancement is important, it does not address the systemic issues that created these inequities in the first place. Join us for a two-part series aimed at both supporting leadership development for faculty and staff who identify as Asian, while also addressing systemic inequities to create inclusive environments where Asian leaders can thrive. Asian leaders are not a monolith and encompass a wide range of backgrounds, cultures, and lived experiences: this program aims to build community among the many groups present while participants share leadership success strategies. In the second session, all leaders are invited to learn more about how they can take action to create more inclusive and equitable environments to support the success of Asian leaders.
How it Works
This two-part series kicks off with a 90-minute discussion designed to build community amongst Asian leaders, honor the broad range of cultures and experiences of leaders who identify as Asian, make space to discuss challenges and strategies for leadership success, and create new connections through networking and optional mentorship.
The second session is a 90-minute virtual training designed for any leader regardless of identity that will prove especially helpful for those who do not identify as Asian. Attendees will learn practical strategies to create more inclusive and equitable environments to support and retain Asian leaders.
You may choose to attend one or both of these sessions live or view the on-demand recording. The first session is intended to be a space for leaders who identify as Asian, and the second session is designed for any leader, regardless of identity.
