Kumarie Achaibar-Morrison

Kumarie leads the international student advising team and ensures the delivery of programs and services to international students. She advises students on immigration, cultural adjustment and academic issues and manages communications to students while building staff effectiveness and enhancing advising services. Kumarie has facilitated several workshops for students and staff on such topics as cultural adjustment, intercultural communication competencies, and diversity training. Previously, she was an intercultural education trainer at Catholic Social Services, facilitating training on various topics related to building staff diversity and intercultural capacities.

Kumarie holds certificates in intercultural communication education from the Summer Institute for Intercultural Communication in Portland, OR. She arrived in Alberta about twenty-five years ago as a foreign student from Trinidad and Tobago and brings to her work a genuine understanding of the challenges facing international students.
